Haigh Family: Snake Pass for the Nintendo Switch

In Console, PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

The 29th of March sees the launch of a new game by UK based developers Sumo Digital. The studio brought us AAA blockbuster Sonic & All-Stars Racing: Transformed and LittleBigPlanet 3.

Snake Pass was originally just a demo dreamed up whilst the developers had creative time — part of their process where they can work on what they like and dream up new ideas. It was shown to the team who loved it. The Snake Simulator was originally going to be a game that was ultra realistic, but they soon decided it needed a more colourful and friendly feel and so, the idea of eating rodents was dropped in favour of the now family friendly Snake Pass.

Snake Pass is a retro-inspired collect-athon platform game where players use the unique control system of waggling the controls from left to right in a rhythm to gain speed, and using the right controller to lift and gain height and tighten on to poles, platforms or obstacles. We tried the game at EGX last year and the whole family loved it. You really need to think like a Snake to pull off these moves!

The unique control system only took our daughter a few minuets to master and we are told that over the 15 different themed levels new abilities will be introduced such as swimming and even getting your Hummingbird friend Doodle to help lift you off the ground.

Snake Pass will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch  and PC on March 28th in North America and March 29th across all platforms in Europe.
For my family it’s the Nintendo Switch version we most want. Firstly, this will make it a portable game if you want it to be. Supporting the Joy-Con and the Switch Pro Controller, Snake Pass on will offer other ways to play too. We also like the idea of being able to take Snake Pass to friends’ houses to play speed run challenges as an after school or dinner party entertainment.

However you play it, Snake Pass will be a great game for all ages.
