Ask A Question
Featured Image for Questions of the Month for February 2015

Each month we field all manner of different questions on askaboutgames. Some people have intricate queries about particular games while others want to know which console will be best for their family. Here are our picks this month.

Question: I'm looking for a good game for the ipad, where you fight and level up your character stats and skills, and is very inter-changeable. i prefer a game that is pixel art, like Retry, or Flappy bird, stuff like that.

Answer: There are a variety of games for the iPad that would match your request, one we have tried is Castaway Island that works a little like Animal Crossing in terms of character progression. This option also has the retro graphics you desire. Another option is Sick Bricks that will be released in March. Again a focus on role play character progression here.

Question: Are there any games where i can just be the commander. where i just send out armies with strategies and do not have to micro-manage every detail?

Tower Defense style games offer this kind of play experience, there are a wide range available for different video-game platforms. Swords and Soliders on the iPad, Android and Wii U is a good option that man families enjoy.

Question: I bought the PS3 Minecraft Plastic Texture on PSN network but is when I am playing my Minecraft, I am still unable to use it.

Once you have purchased the texture pack you need to go to your download list to ensure it has both downloaded and installed. This is access via the system menu of the PS3.

Question: I bought, in 2012, a Wii console for my daughters in USA and games. We live in Brazil and all games from US and Brazil work out and they have a lot of fun. So, I went to France and bought a Just Dance 2014 and Alien Syndrome  . I came back to Brazil and both discs did not work out. Please, I need instructions to make them run.

The Wii console is region locked for certain territories. Those titles will not work on the region of console you have. You should ensure you purchase games to match the region of the console you are running them on.

Question: My son had Disney Infinity 1.0 and a lot of figures. We the starter pack, kept all the other figures and playsets and "upgraded" to 2.0, assumingthat everything from the original infinity would work in 2. I have now found that none of the early playsets work with 2.0.

If I use my Disney Infinity 2.0 base and original playsets and figures and instead try and buy the original disk, will my son then be able to play everything with just one base, or do you really need two bases, one for each version?

Answer: To play the Playset adventures from 1.0 you currently need a 1.0 disc. You can, however, access all the 1.0 Toy Box content in Disney Infinity 2.0. The same is true for the 2.0 Playset adventures, you need the 2.0 disc. Re-purchasing the 1.0 disc only would enable you to access these playset adventures.
