Questions of the Month for October

Each month we field all manner of different questions on askaboutgames. Some people have intricate queries about particular games while others want to know which console will be best for their family. Here are our picks this month.

Question: I'm doing a school project (University) that requires me to find a driving game that each player can do four times over to test their driving skills on the same circuit. I basically need a PS3 game that will record/log number of errors and speeds reached. I'm looking at Gran Turismo on YouTube but I can;t make out if the errors and speeds are logged as the game progresses. I'm in dire need of some advice and help...I'm new to all this and it's a bit overwhelming for a novice like me....! Thanks for any help you can suggest!

Answer: Most driving videogames will focus on speed round the track rather than driving errors. Because of this I think you may want to look for a specific driving tutorial game that records driving correctness rather than just speed.

One possibility is the Driving Simulator 2012 game that replicates the experience of real world driving, rather than a race track.

Question: Is a motion controller required for the Micheal Jackson experience and how to use without play station move?

Answer: Yes you need to have a Move controller to play Michael Jackson: The Experience on PS3. Each player requires a controller to join in and you can play with up to four players. This offers a similar experience to the Wii and related games like Just Dance.

Question: Is there a school pack you can download and use as education material for free use to children and parents, in conjunction with something like the BT internet Rangers scheme that gives a wider range of advice and guidance on games ratings, internet use etc.

Answer 3: There are some excellent sources of online learning that can be accessed. For example the 4 Learning Teaching and Learning pages. The Education Service also have a range of resources and games on their website. Wired.com recently put together a comprehensive round up of resources with more of a project bent.

In terms of resources about online safety, we have just put together a page that categorises a wide variety of resources that can be access to educate and inform about safe online behaviour.

Check back next month for more great questions from readers, and our best attempts to answer. If we've missed anything in our responses this month, why not fill in the gaps in the comments. Also, you can ask your questions here.
