Safer Internet Day is almost upon us. It's the day in the year we all pause browsing to make sure we are up to date with the latest advice and information to be safe online.

You can follow events on the day via the @UK_SIC Twitter and using the #SID2013 hash tag. There will also be a Safer Internet Radio show that you can get involved in via @SID2013radio. Finally there is a great YouTube channel for the day that can be access here.

This year’s Safer Internet Day has the theme of Online rights and Responsibilities and will take place on 5th February 2013. On this day the UK Safer Internet Centre is giving children and young people the opportunity to share their views about their online rights. The views of young people from across the UK will be presented to the government on Safer Internet Day 2013.

For schools there is a Safer Internet Day School packs. Both primary and secondary school packs are available and consist of five quick classroom activities, one fully supported lesson plan with curriculum links and staff guidance, and a poster to start discussion and promote Safer Internet Day. Why not get your school involved?
