Last week in Cologne the 3DS version of popular block building and exploration game Terraria was unveiled. The game, which uses a combination of touch screen and button controls, offers a two dimensional version of Minecraft.

Although this sounds more limited, the number of items to find and a more story driven experience has led to a strong rise in popularity of the game amongst younger players.

On the 3DS you can play four person local multiplayer. On the Wii U version you can play four player split-screen locally and up to 8 player online.

Terraria is planned for launch early 2016.
