Xbox Gives The Gift Of Gaming This Christmas
This Christmas, Xbox have a campaign to give away up to $1,000,000 of gaming gear to charities: Child’s Play, Gamers Outreach, SpecialEffect, and Operation Supply Drop.
For every social photo post about what gaming together means to you, tagged with #GiveWithXbox, Xbox will donate $5 USD of Xbox products. The donated Xbox products include the new Xbox Adaptive Controllers that enable more people to access video games. There’s also Xbox One S, Xbox Game Pass, and Xbox Live Gold accounts.
Here’s a bit about each charity:
SpecialEffect: We put fun and inclusion back into the lives of people with physical disabilities by helping them to play video games. By using technology ranging from modified joypads to eye-control, we’re finding a way for people to play to the very best of their abilities. But we’re not just doing it for fun. By levelling the playing field, we’re bringing families and friends together and having a profoundly positive impact on therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.
Gamers Outreach: Provides recreation to children in hospitals through the power of video games and the gaming community. Hospitalisation can often be a lonely, isolating, and scary experience for young people. We ease those burdens by providing equipment, technology, and software that help kids cope with long-term treatment. Our programs help aid the healing process by providing relief, socialisation, and a sense of normalcy to families and patients spending time inside hospitals.
Child’s Play: We seek to improve the lives of children in paediatric hospitals and other child welfare facilities through the kindness and generosity of the video game community and the power of play.
Operation Supply Drop: In response to a growing need from our deployed troops requesting generationally relevant gear from back home, Operation Supply Drop was founded in 2010 with a focus on delivering “Video Game Care Packages Downrange.” As we grew and service members returned home to face various transitional challenges, our objective evolved to identify and address the underlying needs of these veterans and their families.
