At an event today Disney Interactive announced a game of interest to families who have enjoyed Skylanders. Disney Infinity uses a range of toy figures in a similar way to Activision's game while also offering a way for children and parents to create their own games in a Toy Box mode.

The toy figures enable players to access characters in the game by placing them on a USB peripheral called the Disney Infinity Base. This provides space for two characters as the game can be played by two players via a split screen mode. You can also play online with four players.

A starter pack will provide the Disney Infinity game, three toy figures, USB peripheral and some additional tokens to access levels and upgrades. It will initially be available for 360, PS3, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, PC and Mobile.
