Sonic Mania is a side-scrolling platforming game with an emphasis on speed. Sonic, a cartoony hedgehog and his friends are doing their best do stop Eggman from attaining world dominion. The characters, setting, story and violence are light-hearted and cartoony. It's available on Xbox One, Switch, PlayStation 4 and PC in August of 2017.

PEGI 3 - The game features some cartoony violence of a light-hearted nature. The violence is never severe or of a serious tone, as most violence simply consists of Sonic jumping on the head of enemies. The robotic enemies fall apart and disappear in a flash. All violence in the game is accompanied by bright flashes and fast paced action.

I grew up playing Sonic The Hedgehog back on the Mega Drive when I was very young. My family would sit and watch in awe at how good I was. It's a strong memory of getting approval from people who were important in my life.

When Sonic Mania first came out my daughter Evelyn was only 5 months old and I didn’t think she would pay much interest. But actually, she loved sitting in her little chair watching me play. It gave me goosebumps at the nostalgia of it, as she let out little giggles and pointing to Sonic saying "Hedgehog, Hedgehog".

I generally take my time and not go too quickly so Evelyn can take in and absorb the environment and the music. While I know at the age of 19 months she can’t have full control of the pad she would press any of the buttons while I use the D-pad. That way we could play together.

As a big lover of animals she bobs up and down with glee and brings a huge smile to our faces knowing she is enjoying playing and interacting with a franchise I loved almost 25 years ago. I'm sure it's just the first of many games we will play together.
