ZeptoLab is releasing their new multi-player game King of Thieves today on iOS today (coming to Amazon February 26 and Google Play on March 5).

The game is of particular interest to families because it offers a new, hybrid, multi-player mechanic where players can steal each others loot. This creates a compelling back and forth as players work to make their home level hard to traverse, this protecting their stores.

Players have to run, jump and dodge traps, while all the time competing to break into each others customizable dungeons all the time trying to accumulate gems and gold. Gems are the main treasure and are crucial for game progression. The more gems you steal, the higher your scores in ratings and leagues.

It's the asynchronous game-play and persistent worlds that are most unusual here. While multi-player options are common, the ability to take it in turns to attack opponent strong holds makes this unique. The tablet or smartphone device can inform you when this has happened, triggering a retaliation mechanic to go and steal them back.

“King of Thieves is not only a new property from ZeptoLab, it brings an entirely different style of game to mobile platforms,” said Semyon Voinov, Creative Director of ZeptoLab. “We challenged our developers to create something totally new that would deliver on our philosophy of innovation and fun. Judging by the huge positive feedback in testing, as well as by how often I’m playing the game myself, I think it’s clear they succeeded. I dare any gamer to try and steal from me".

The novel multi-player game play takes King of Thieves beyond the usual functionality of competitors like Angry Birds Transformers, and will offer families a new way to play online.
