Mario Kart is a racing game that is designed to appeal to players of all ages. Serious racers can look for the racing line while younger players can hunt down the best power ups.

Mario Kart 8 is the new version of the game out today on the Wii U. It enables four players to race against each other, one on the Game-pad and three on Wii Remotes. There are a wide variety of vehicles and characters each of which perform differently in the game.

A competition for the game is pitting four families against each other to see who is the best racer amongst them. Here you can see what the game is like to race in a real family setting and how the different ages get on.

As you can see from the video, games like Mario Kart are good to get the whole family playing together on the sofa whilst ensuring that everyone has a real chance of winning.

To help the families prepare for the next round a friendly dad sat down for a late night practice session and recorded his observations to date:

We'd love to hear which game work best for your family and which family members play together. Why not let us know in the comments.
