In a Nintendo Direct video today, Nintendo shared details of their new 3DS systems. The announcement underlines their ongoing commitment to the 3DS range of handheld games and is good news for families.

The new system, called the "New Nintendo 3DS", will come in a regular and large size similar to the current 3DS and 3DS XL. The hardware sports an improved screen with a wider viewing angles, a faster CPU and adjusted dimensions.

While it's roughly the same size as current models it incorporates the buttons found on the 3DS Circle Pad Pro accessory. A C-button, named after the GameCube pad's C-stick, grants dual analogue controls, along with additional trigger buttons L2 and R2. It also provides a micro USB card slot and NFC-reading technology are also built in all ready for amiibo.
