Questions of the Month for August
Each month we field all manner of different questions on askaboutgames. Some people have intricate queries about particular games while others want to know which console will be best for their family. Here are our picks this month.
Question: Can 2DS games be used in an old DS?
Answer: The 2DS can play all 3DS and DS games, but the newer 3DS/2DS games can’t be played in the older DS, DS Lite, DSi or DS XL handhelds.
Question: My 11 year old son owns the Minecraft PS3 game and wants to play it with friends in his room together with somebody else with 2 controllers. We cannot get this to work.
To use the split screen option in Minecraft on the PS3 you need to play the game in a high definition. This means you will need a newer HD television. You can check these options in the System | Display menu. Ideally you should use a HDMI connection here.
Question: I have a son who has a disability and he keeps snapping and badly scratching the cd’s. Can games be downloaded onto a USB he doesn’t have internet so I would have to download it and send it to him?
I’d suggest the best way forward would be to bring his video-game console to a place with an Internet Connection, purchase and download the games he would like to play and then set it up when back home. Most modern consoles have an on-line store where you can purchase or download games in this way. Also hand held consoles like the 3DS and PlayStation Vita offer games on cartridges which can’t be scratched.
