Sumo Digital's LittleBigPlanet 3 was available as a free PS4 game for Playstation Plus members in February . The LittleBigPlanet franchise is a very popular Playstation exclusive action puzzle-platformer.

Some consider the main character Sackboy to be the Mario face of kid platformer games for Playstation. I had previously purchased LittleBigPlanet Vita for my Playstation Vita and loved it. LittleBigPlanet 3 being the free game for Playstation Plus members was the perfect opportunity to get my kids into the LittleBigPlanet Saga.

As previously mentioned, you play LittleBigPlanet 3 as the adventurous Sackboy. A character in his basic form that is made up of brown burlap sack. LittleBigPlanet is all about creativity.

You can not only customize your own levels in different modes of the game, but you can also customize the appearance of your Sackboy with different items and objects that you collect in the game or through DLC costumes that can be purchased in the Playstation store.

There are five costumes of different Playstation characters that come with this edition of the game. Some of the costumes included are Ellie from the Last of Us and Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series. This was a nice freebie as I love those characters. There are additional playable characters that can unlocked along the way: Oddboy, Toggle, and Swoop.

Dad tip: If you go to the Playstation Store and search for LittleBigPlanet 3 and select to view Add Ons, you can then sort by cheapest to most expensive and find quite a few additional costumes that you can download for free.

You can play LittleBigPlanet 3 as single player, local multiplayer, or join other players' games online. Being a puzzle-platformer, the levels will challenge its users to complete the different levels in creative ways. My two boys (ages 5 and 8) loved playing through this game together.

They were able to complete most the levels by themselves without having to use the Dad please figure out this puzzle for us save button. They had to use their brains for this game, so it was great to see this game make them think, but not be too challenging. My kids impressed me as usual.

The game does provide a lot of replay value as there is a story mode, challenge mode, design mode, and you can play levels from the community. When playing through the different levels, you collect stickers, decorations, sounds, power-ups, and objects that you can use in creating your own levels and challenges.

My family loved playing LittleBigPlanet 3 with its creative gameplay, magnificent visuals, and fun soundtrack. We can easily recommend that you bring this game home to your own LittleBigPlanet, wherever that may be.
