Lightyear Frontier is a peaceful open-world game about farming a new planet. You work to explore, gather resources and build a working farm to harvest alien crops. It's an unusual game because you are using a Mech suit for farming, and need to balance production with a gentle touch on the environment.

Play involves deciding where to start your farm and then steadily building your interstellar homestead. You need to gather resources from the local surroundings to be able to build and farm. As you do, you can collect the seeds of numerous plants, which each have their own growing patterns and required conditions. You must take care to water and feed your crops consistently to then be able to have enough to trade for credits and materials.
As you get more established, you gain upgrades that let you explore further afield. As you explore more, you discover the world’s ancient secrets that point to lost knowledge from many years past. Working on this mystery, alongside dealing with the ever-changing weather conditions and seasons gives you plenty to do.
The result is a game that's great fun to play with friends. More than that though, it's a game about balance rather than rinsing the soil for everything it's got. Your challenge is to create a sustainable lifestyle by carefully managing your planet's ecosystem, so you are able to endure environmental hazards and weather conditions.
